Terms and Conditions
This is a draft. A lawyer still needs to review it before launch.
Key terms before you continue
The lowest bid amount submitted by exactly one eligible participant is the winning bid.
A bid service fee is taken from your NextBid wallet for each bid, unless you use a bonus bid on an Auction that accepts bonus bids. The fee is separate from the winning amount.
Bids stay private while the Auction is active. NextBid server time, wallet and payment records and the final settlement record are authoritative.
If you win, you must pay the winning amount before the payment deadline shown on your win. If you miss it, the win is forfeited. When the Auction allows a fallback, the win is then offered to the next lowest unique bid.
1. Agreement and scope
These Auction Terms & Agreement apply to NextBid Lowest Unique Auctions, wallet deposits, bid service fees, bid submission, result calculation, winner payment, prize fulfillment and related support.
By confirming a bid, paying a bid service fee or using a bonus bid, you agree to these terms and the Auction details shown for that Auction. If an Auction detail conflicts with a general rule, the Auction detail controls for that Auction unless applicable law requires otherwise.
2. Definitions
Platform means the NextBid website, the NextBid Telegram bot and related digital systems used to operate an Auction.
Participant means an eligible person using a genuine NextBid account to enter an Auction.
Wallet means the NextBid account balance that holds deposited funds and is used to pay bid service fees and, where chosen, the winning amount.
Bid means the amount a participant submits for a particular Auction once the bid service fee is paid or a bonus bid is used.
Bid service fee means the participation charge shown on the Auction before you bid. It is separate from the winning amount.
Bonus bid means a free bid credited to your account, for example through a welcome, deposit or referral promotion. It pays the bid service fee for one bid, only on Auctions that accept bonus bids.
Unique bid means a bid amount placed by exactly one participant in that Auction.
Lowest Unique Bid means the lowest confirmed bid amount that is unique when the Auction closes.
Winning amount means the Lowest Unique Bid determined from the final settlement record.
3. Eligibility, identity and accounts
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering a binding agreement under applicable Ethiopian law.
You sign in to NextBid with Telegram. Use one genuine account for yourself. You may not create, share, borrow or coordinate accounts to obtain extra bids, manipulate uniqueness or avoid limits.
Provide accurate account, contact, payment and delivery information. NextBid may ask for reasonable identity or address details before handing over a prize or processing a refund.
You are responsible for protecting your Telegram account, devices and active sessions. Never share a bank or mobile-money PIN or a verification code with support staff or other users.
4. How the Lowest Unique Auction works
At the scheduled closing time, NextBid evaluates all confirmed bids. The winner is the participant whose bid is the lowest amount that appears exactly once among confirmed bids.
If two or more participants place the same amount, that amount is not unique and cannot win. The system continues upward until it finds the lowest amount placed by exactly one participant. If no amount is unique, the Auction ends with no winner.
Every bid must be between 0.01 ETB and 1,000.00 ETB and must match the bid step set for that Auction. Each Auction sets its own bid step, bid service fee, maximum number of bids per participant, and start and end time. The details shown on the Auction apply.
You cannot place the same amount twice in the same Auction.
A bid is confirmed only when the bid service fee is taken from your wallet, or a bonus bid is used, while the Auction is open. If your wallet balance does not cover the fee, the bid is not placed.
Confirmed bids are final for that Auction and cannot be edited or withdrawn.
Bid amounts are encrypted and are not shown to other participants or staff while the Auction is live. Public activity may show that a masked participant bid on an Auction, but not the amount.
5. Wallet, bid service fees and refunds
You add funds to your wallet by sending a deposit through a supported payment method, such as Telebirr or CBE Birr, and submitting the payment confirmation message. NextBid credits the deposit after verifying it with the payment record. A screenshot, debit alert or pending status does not by itself prove a successful deposit.
The Auction shows the bid service fee before you bid. A bid service fee pays for the right to submit that bid. It does not purchase the prize and does not guarantee that the bid will be unique or will win.
A bid service fee is non-refundable once the bid is confirmed, including when the participant loses, changes their mind or places an amount that is not unique.
Each Auction is set either to keep fees or to refund fees if no amount is unique. Under a refund setting, the bid service fees for that Auction's confirmed bids are queued for refund. Otherwise the fees are kept and the Auction ends with no winner. If NextBid cancels an Auction, staff review the affected fees.
Do not deliberately submit the same deposit twice. Duplicate, late, reversed or technically ambiguous payments may require reconciliation, and a payment reference can be used only once.
6. Result, winner and payment
After the Auction closes, NextBid calculates the result from the confirmed bids and stores a settlement record. A short grace period after closing may pass before the result is calculated.
The winner receives the right to buy the prize at the winning amount. The winning amount is paid separately from bid service fees, either from the wallet or by a direct payment that NextBid verifies. Ownership does not transfer until the winning payment is verified.
Each Auction has a winner payment window, shown on the win and in the winner notice as a "pay by" time. The winner must pay the winning amount before that deadline. A payment that arrives after the deadline, or after the win was forfeited, is not accepted for the prize and is marked for refund.
If the winner does not pay in time, the win is forfeited. When the Auction allows a fallback, the next lowest unique bid is offered the win with a new payment window. Fallback can repeat through the next ranked unique bids NextBid holds for that Auction. If fallback is off, or no ranked unique bid remains, the Auction is closed as unclaimed and no prize is awarded.
7. Notifications and fulfillment
NextBid may notify participants about bid confirmation, new and closing Auctions, results, wins, payment deadlines, payments received, forfeited wins and support replies through the Platform and the NextBid Telegram bot.
Transaction-essential messages may be sent even when optional messages are disabled. A participant should keep their Telegram account active and also check the Platform for authoritative status.
After the winning payment is verified, NextBid prepares the prize and updates its status as pending, processing, shipped and delivered. Delivery times are estimates unless NextBid expressly guarantees a date.
8. Prize condition, returns and taxes
The Auction describes the prize, its condition and any material limitations known to NextBid. Minor presentation differences caused by screens, lighting, packaging or manufacturer imagery are not necessarily defects.
Return or replacement requests for a paid prize are reviewed through NextBid support, subject to mandatory rights under applicable law. Misuse, unauthorized modification or customer-caused damage may affect eligibility.
Taxes or legally required charges remain payable by the party responsible under applicable law.
9. Fair play, fraud and prohibited conduct
Do not use multiple, shared or coordinated accounts to manipulate uniqueness, bid limits, participant counts, bonuses, referrals or results.
Do not collude with another person to coordinate bid amounts, deliberately manufacture duplicate bids, suppress a unique bid, rotate winners or otherwise distort the result.
Do not use bots, scripts, modified clients, traffic flooding or other automation to gain an unfair timing or participation advantage.
Do not exploit bugs, tamper with requests, bypass payment verification, impersonate another person, use unauthorized payment instruments, submit false or reused payment evidence or seek duplicate credit for the same payment.
NextBid may reject invalid actions, hold fulfillment, restrict features, mute comments, suspend an account or cancel an improperly obtained benefit when there is a reasonable fraud, security, payment, legal or rule-enforcement basis. A suspended account cannot sign in or bid.
10. Audit, records and authoritative time
NextBid may review relevant account, session, device, wallet, payment, bid, result, fulfillment and audit records to protect fairness, reconcile payments, investigate abuse, resolve disputes or comply with law.
NextBid server time, verified payment records, confirmed bid records, the Auction configuration locked at publication and the stored settlement record are authoritative when a browser countdown, cached screen, screenshot or device clock is delayed or inconsistent.
After an Auction is settled, NextBid may publish the winning amount and the winner's masked display name.
11. Interruptions, cancellation and events outside control
Internet, telecom, payment-provider, hosting or software failures, power or infrastructure outages, natural events, government orders, regulatory changes or other circumstances outside reasonable control may delay or interrupt an Auction.
If an Auction cannot be operated fairly, securely or lawfully, NextBid may cancel it before a result is calculated. NextBid will not fabricate a winner merely to preserve an Auction.
When NextBid cancels an Auction, staff review the affected bid service fees and apply a reasonable remedy based on authoritative records.
12. Changes, complaints, governing law and disputes
NextBid may update these terms when the service, law, payment providers, security requirements or business processes change. Updated terms take effect when published on this page.
These terms are governed by applicable laws of Ethiopia. Submit a complaint through NextBid support and identify the relevant Auction, bid, win or payment reference without sharing PINs or verification codes.
If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, either party may use the competent court or other dispute-resolution process available under applicable Ethiopian law. Nothing in these terms removes a right or remedy that cannot legally be waived.
13. Winner identification, photos, video and publicity
NextBid may publish the Auction title, result, winning amount and the winner's masked display name for transparency. Full identity documents, full phone numbers and non-public payment details are not published as part of an ordinary Auction result.
A winner may be invited to a handover photo, video interview or testimonial. Public posting of an identifiable face, voice, full name or testimonial for advertising or social media requires separate, freely given, informed and specific consent. Agreeing to these terms is not consent to promotional photography or filming.
A winner may decline optional publicity without losing the right to buy or receive the prize. Any consent can be withdrawn by contacting NextBid support. Withdrawal does not necessarily undo lawful publication completed before withdrawal, but NextBid will review reasonable requests to stop further promotional use, subject to applicable law.
14. Existing Auction rights
An Auction's bid limits, bid service fee, bid step, no-winner fee setting, winner payment window and fallback setting are locked once the Auction is published. A change to these terms does not retroactively change a confirmed bid, bid service fee, settled result or refund right for an Auction that already started, except where the law requires otherwise.
Support questions should identify the relevant Auction and payment reference. Never share a bank or mobile-money PIN or an SMS verification code. These terms supplement, rather than waive, applicable Ethiopian consumer and data protection rights.
Important
Each Auction sets its own bid service fee, bid step, maximum bids per participant, start and end time, and whether it accepts bonus bids. Every bid is between 0.01 and 1,000.00 ETB. Review the Auction details before every bid.
